Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear.

Frustrations with Humanity

I’ve been fairly frustrated lately with how issues in life are dealt with (or not) by way too many people.  When certain ideals, regulations, and such are passed by people, they can be removed by people.  If something is instituted by a human being, another human being can destroy it.  This seems to make sense to most people until we hit the establishment of law.  It is almost as if we have elevated laws, often made by people who are now dead, to be above human reasoning or comprehension.  Instead, we complicate things and decide that only certain people are capable of understanding, interpreting, or enacting specific laws.

While specialization is helpful, it is not necessary.  Should I mention that the first American president had no prior political experience?  His credentials consisted of leading an important front of the American army to victory.

I think that the downfall of any system of government is the raising of some individuals over others.  Every person is equal.  We are all of the species Homo sapiens.  The American constitution tried to create a government that functioned solely to protect the rights of people.  Whether that is the right to live or otherwise, this was a step that had never been taken before.  Now, however, we live such a misconstrued version of what the original founders of America had envisioned.  If you are totally pragmatic, you will understand that the entire world is a complete mess, and that’s putting it as lightly as I possibly can.  America is part of that mess.  Obviously something went wrong.

I could say that we should work with the current system and try to reverse what has been already done.  However, I have to say: did we not get here through the current constitution?  I have been saying this for a while now.  We need to start anew, I believe.  While too few people will initially agree with me, something has to change.  The current system failed, quite miserably actually.

By the way, I am no anarchist.  However, I would say that too little government is far superior to too much government.  Remember, government has been established by human beings.  Any human institution that is not recognized by humans, does not exist.

Skepticism is losing

In recent years (read: in the years I’ve been capable of thinking for myself), I have generally described myself as a bit of a skeptic.  Whether that meant questioning a news article, the news agency, motives, or anything, I generally weigh possibilities in my mind before deciding the most likely or most impacting outcome.  I personally have always thought this to be a quality of intelligence, despite sometimes its requirement of being the “pessimist.”  However, I have noticed something that may or may not be significant.

After going through a good number of schools and learning from different books and different teachers, I have noticed that the general idea that is promoted is that of what I call naiveté.  Our tendency in Western civilization to believe everything that we are told is really our downfall, and also the downfall of many nations before the United States.  If you remember pre-Nazi Germany, the people were willing to believe anything that meant a recovery for them.  As such, they were easily persuaded to believe the Nazi propaganda.  Now watch this.

America is absolutely not in good times right now.  We are in an economic recession.  People hear about terrorism on the news daily.  There is also a government that the people believe is not going in the right direction.  So what is the connection?  People are worried, scared, and unhappy.  As such, they are led to believe nearly anything that even remotely makes sense.  What was Barack Obama’s signature word again? It was hope.  People want hope.  They saw a character who seemed genuine and caring, so they voted for him.  People in general are clinging to that hope still, so they are believing whatever is tossed at them in the news media.  In other words, people are believing every lie that is put in the lame-stream media.  They like distractions that keep them from having to hear the truth.  It’s a natural reaction, be assured.  However, it is not a healthy reaction for our society.

With everything (including our government) in our lives in a near-monopoly state, we are encroaching on something catastrophic for our nation.  I believe that we are witnessing a hijacking of our liberties, privacy, and everything that epitomizes a life of free thought and free living.  You may think I’m crazy or misinformed.  Nevertheless, be careful.  These things could easily happen.  All because no one wants to be a skeptic.
